2 campsites- lake mcgregor and alexandrina. both nice, p basic (water wasn’t running in may, no flush loos) but gorgeous location. closed in winter means from may 31st
I would be interested if the reviews are all for the same place?? We ended up going to ‘Lake Alexandrina Campsite’ at the south of the lake instead of the east of the lake (took Lake Alexandrina S Rd instead of Lake Alexandrina Rd!). Quiet spot in amongst the permanent baches that were almost all empty, almost felt a bit eerie. Couple of long drops and shed to hang your solar shower. Thought it was a great spot. Honesty box system
Upon arrival, we were surprised that this place is listed as an option. It was completely full with permanent campers, who seemed to have been there for a long time already. Wouldn’t recommend, the gravel road to the site is also awful and bumpy to drive with a large camper.
This is a lovely site, great location with a fantastic custodian called Graham who was very helpful, but I think the fee of was a bit steep parking with very limited facilities? There was another campsite just along from this one which appeared to have many permanent residents there, plus there were several cars driving to and from this site at high speed along the gravel road, showering everything in dust and stones!
Beautiful place to camp. I can highly recommend staying there. The view is so good and the lake got a nice temperature to swim in.
Beautiful place on the lake. But better suited for self contained campers with their own toilet. Alternatively, you can take the toilet paper with you to the toilet and don't let the dirty condition irritate you. The price-performance ratio is therefore not quite right.
Great views, easy to get to. Not to busy, but enough going on. Get here before 8pm as it filled up quick after that! Honest box at the front gate, if the committee aren’t around to collect! Loverly people.
Nice place by the lake where you can swim! Very idyllic and a good spot to see the stars. The operator is super nice and nice. Price-performance is not really fair, however, because the sanitary facilities have something to be desired! (Plumb toilet, no real shower, and only cold water (no drinking water)).
Low cost camp site with toilet, sinks and I think showers (which I’m assuming are cold). No sand flies when I visited!
Low cost camp site, but the view is very good. The lake is very beautiful, most importantly, it is a good place to watch the stars! Unforgettable experience!
The reviews for Lake Alexandrina Camp are mixed, with some reviewers loving the location and dark skies for stargazing, while others criticize the facilities, cleanliness, and pricing. Some reviewers mention that the campsite is closed during winter, but not all reviews are up-to-date.
The positive aspects of the campsite include:
However, the negative aspects include:
Overall, it seems that Lake Alexandrina Camp is a one-of-a-kind experience, but it may not be for everyone. If you are a stargazer or a nature lover, you may enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and dark skies. However, if you are looking for modern facilities and amenities, you may want to consider other options.
