Magnificent
Amazing spot. Good and simple walk when it’s low tide. Beautiful 360 view of Akaroa.
Go at low tide and you’ll be fine. Cool 360 view but not worth it if doing another viewpoint hike
I'm almost 2.5 hours after the hight tide. It was right! And the short way is definitely worth it. The view was very nice !!!
Absolutely beautiful. We went early in the morning and had lovely views, also great reflections around the bay. Currently a bit of a worksite near the car park and start of walk, but the work people were very helpful cheery
Was a great adventure. Wore our snow gear as it was a very windy, cold and rainy day in winter. Definitely plan and look at tides, we found an hour to hour and a half each side of the low tide would allow enough time to walk out and climb to top of the hill for great views. We hoped the bad weather would pass quicker as weather was so bad the rain turned to sleet. However was great to see snow on top of the mountains when so of the weather cleared up.
I cannot stress enough, DON'T TRY WALKING OVER THE FIRST MOUND. I accidentally found this walk so didn't see the warnings on here, but that first mound is slippery as hell, even with grippy walking boots. As everyone else is saying, from the sign welcoming you to the reserve, follow the track to the right heading down to the sea. From there it's an easy 4wd track to the end of the peninsula. You can check tide times here: https://www. Tide-forecast. Com/locations/Akaroa-New-Zealand/tides/latest
At low tide, you can go through the beach on the right. At high tide you can not go. The ride is pretty and short. The path is very well drawn :)
This walk is extremely dangerous and not suitable for you unless you have advanced climbing abilities. You should go there by boat. You can't walk there during high tide as part of the walk will be flooded. The view from the peninsula is stunning and the walk itself is very beautiful.
It's a really short walk but very lovely with a good view. Its easy to go there from the street. We took our time and needed about 20/30 minutes with return.
