Very remote spot with basically no reception, but that’s part of the charm. Beautiful night sky for stargazing. Large kitchen and a nice common room. You can rent dishes for a small deposit, which is understandable since things probably get lost or not cleaned. Long drop toilets but they were clean, and there are showers (hot costs extra, cold is free). Very close to Wharariki Beach. Some of the other reviews here seem a bit harsh – it feels like the best has been made of a very remote location.

Mooie locatie, maar niet de moeite waard $ 120 voor een niet-aangedreven site. vuile draagbare toiletten en een vuile keuken, douches kosten $ 2 voor 5 minuten, geen vuilnisophalen of dumpstation. Wi-Fi is $ 10 voor 1 GB en er is geen mobiele receptie. De eigenaar rijdt vaak een lawaaierige motorfiets door de camping. Het strand is mooi, maar er is een openbare parkeerplaats in de buurt, dus overnachten is niet nodig. Niet aanbevolen.

Slechtste camping ooit! Er is niets goeds te zeggen. Je betaalt zo veel voor de camping, maar alles kost extra. Dump toiletten, geen mobiele service, geen vuilnisbakken, en Wi-Fi kost $ 10 per 1 GB en kan alleen worden gebruikt bij de receptie, niet bij uw voertuig.

Voordelen: dicht bij het strand, grote camping keuken, front dude is vriendelijk, veel wandelingen in het gebied, mooi en groen. nadelen: drop toiletten, licht sensoren in de douche laatste 5min en uitschakelen tijdens het douchen, toilet lichten 2min, sites dicht bij elkaar, geen vuilnisbakken, betaalde douches, geen crockery/cutlery voorzien nodig om te huren, kachels moeten lichter om te werken, café heeft muziek spelen 9-6pm dus geen rust tijdens de dag, toiletdeuren slam en kan worden gehoord door de site, sommige man rijdt zijn motorfiets heen en weer

De rust van deze prachtige plek is verpest door de gastheer heen en weer van zijn accommodatie / workshop door de camping naar de receptie op zijn motorfiets de hele dag.

Nice campsite with good facilities, area is slightly remote and you have to pay for showers on top of campsite fee. Limited phone signal.

This campsite was very disappointing. The place is extremely run-down and poorly maintained. There are only pit toilets, and the showers are in bad condition and cost extra. There is no mobile network at all, and Wi-Fi is only available for an additional fee. There is also no option to dispose of general waste. On top of that, the staff was unfriendly and unhelpful. Overall, not recommended.

Nice camping only a short walk from Wharariki Beach, barely phone signal but you can buy 1 GB for 10 NZD and the Wifi works around the reception and the near by cafe, hot showers for 2 NZD, one laundry machine and one dryer, nice kitchen area and common room, no flush toilets but facilities are clean.

Stayed over for the new year. In a stunning location with access to some of the best walks in New Zealand, worth the stay on its own. The drive there is beautiful too but the last road is gravel but not awful! Site has good facilities, toilets, shower, cold washing and kitchen. No signal until you venture out from the grounds. $10 for 1gb of wifi seems like a ripoff to me but didn’t use it, the seclusion was a welcome change.

Stunning location, lovely welcome from the owner, everything well explained as to what to expect on site. Such good value given the remote location and beautiful beach. Definitely a favourite.
