I'm just saying: 4020 steps uphill! We knew it was going to be tough, but the track is really incredibly tough, at least for mere mortals. Nevertheless, I would walk it again and again, if the weather was good... You are rewarded with a really great view at the end

We are 2 adults of average fitness with a baby in a backpack and it took us 2.5 hours from the parking lot to the Tarn (2 hours + 30 minutes for baby breaks). We spent 1.5h at the Tarn to get a picture from the top of the volcano. The way back took us 2 hours. Highly recommended when the weather is nice! It was too windy for us for a reflection.

We are normal hikers with average fitness, tooks us 3h to arrive the tarn from carpark via Pouakai hut (stayed for 20min for break with lunch) and 2h to come back to the carpark. Stunning view but unluckily didn't see the reflection, as it was 3pm, cloud around the peak and wind was heavy. I presume the reflection can be seen if we arrive there 12pm or earlier.

Mooi op een goede dag! Kies je tijd goed - we hebben de weersvoorspelling gedurende dagen gecontroleerd. ik zou aanbevelen om op te lopen voor zonsopgang als je kunt, streef ernaar om 20-30 minuten voor zonsopgang naar de tarn te komen.

Great walk, would say it’s medium strength not to hard quite a easy path as it’s man made, so good for beginners. Try and go on a sunny clear day without wind :)

Only works when the sky is reasonably clear! We (middle 20) took a total of 6 hours. It is really hard and especially the way back is pretty long. In the end we were totally broken but still happy to have seen such a reflection in the Tarn. The route was well maintained so it was no problem to walk back in the dark.

Around 3500 stairs upstairs... Check the weather before starting. Must be no wind and clouds if you want a nice picture at the tarn.

Beautiful up there! When it's nice weather the reflection is stunning. Way up was horrible as it's only stairs through the forest and tooke me 2h:20min. Way down as it's downhill 1h:30

Beautiful view, the hike is definitely worth it. We (f / 25) had 1: 30h to the reflection tarn and 1: 15h return. The path consists mostly of wooden walkways and the 3000 stairs are no understatement. In particular, the longest route that goes through the forest is strict and dragging. You lack orientation and you can hardly say how far you still have to go, the path feels endlessly long. NO SANDFLYS !! :)

It was the most beautiful sunset I have ever seen. It's a really peaceful place and I was lucky to be the only person there at that time
