#14&15 plenty of space, good toilets, water fountain

Huge amount of space on the grass either side of the large looped gravel track. Insects weren’t too bad considering we were on the waters edge. Had the place to ourselves. No toilets but you can drive 2 minutes back to the other free camp near the playground.

Spectacular free camping in front of Pukaki Lake with a stunning view on the mountains. We spent 2 days enjoying doing nothing and a quick swim in the lake (I was a bit scared that would be too cold but with a sunny day in the afternoon it is worth it!). Long drop toilets always clean, sometimes a bit smelly but you can do it :) I recommend arriving around lunch time to choose your spot. Love NZ ❤️

Awesome and beautiful spot. The bay is very calm and quiet, even though there’s a little bit a noise coming from the road next to the camp, but not a big issue. CSC vehicles can park pretty much anywhere which leaves plenty of space for non CSC or tents. Toilets are clean and there’s drinking water.

Unpowered site $15. Shower,toilets, kitchen, pool they all clean. And also they have 24/7 convenience store. You can catch the free wifi in front of the bar restaurant.

Really beautiful spot next to the beach but only 5 spots, all already full at 4pm.

Great place to stay - we didn’t see or met any people while we where there. Felt safe and with good view.

Free camping in Hanmer is not so good re size and time limits however this site is great especially for bigger vans! A bit tricky to find as there are no signs however there is a great space behind the DOC fenced workshop (second driveway, not the one for the walking tracks). 15 min walk into town.

Large area, bit lumpy, not totally flat but still a great rest stop.

Great for a stop off for a night. The toilets were fine (1 men's, 1 women's) and a busy spot with other vans, caravans, tents and locals popping up for the sunset. A washing up sink behind the loo and a bbq area near a children's playground area.

Gérant très sympa mais il faut payer $2 pour les douches qui durent seulement 5 min…

The unpowered sites are beautiful and peaceful and $12 per night. The powered sites are along the road and $20.

It should be noted that swags and tents are not allowed to camp here. Beautiful spot otherwise.

Very pleasant place to stay. Awesome and friendly atmosphere, the host is a really good guy and will recommend you places to visit. Also perfect place to be lazy, you'll see when you come here, hehe. xD

Tres bon freecamp face à la mer, vous avez des toilettes à proximité et c’est très calme. Il n’y a pas de panneau qui indique que vous pouvez y passer la nuit, mais le council confirme le lieu

Lieu incroyablement beau, vue sur le lac et les montagnes. Soleil sur site jusqu'au couché du soleil

Lots of road works occuring at the moment (Oct) so roadside spaces are very limited, fencing and cones everywhere and gravel is very rough. Toilets and dump station still open. No signage saying freedom camping is allowed, purely going off Auckland Councils general rules for freedom camping on their website.

Few spaces right on the south side of the road next to the beach. No signage saying you can freedom camp here, purely going off Auckland council's general rules on their website. Though there is a sign on the north side of the road saying no freedom camping. Toilet is a walk down the road/beach to the other reserve end.
