I’ve seen the view and the whole walk to every lookout is an amazing journey! That was one of my favorite forrest walks in the North!
A nice 4 km loop track. But unfortunately you can see nothing of the gorge. More of a forest walk.
A pleasant walk but mainly covered by forest canopy so don’t expect many views of the gorge! Worth a stop if you are in the area but probably not worth a detour.
Nice track though the big slip lookout track is closed until the end of April 2019. Saw some people go there anyway.
Excellent track, well maintained. We hiked from the big car park at the Ashhurst end to the 5km marker/half way point and back in four hours including the Tawa Loop, with several stops along the way at lookouts and for lunch.
Great gorge. The walk leads above the street through a forest though. Besides a few lookouts that has nothing to do with the gorge. In fact also the upper track was closed due to a landslide. Is signposted everywhere though.
The end of the 10 km track is not accessible according to the sign (due to landslide), but you can still walk on the 8 km before that. It's a great track with interesting birds (you will hear them), just park on the front car park, walk the track and hitch hike the way back :)
Three different nice walks from 1 hour up to 5 hours. We liked it! Did the Tawa loop walk
A few routes. 4km loop or 10km one way through the gorge. Can go half way along to the windfarm lookout for a 10km return trip. Mostly in the jungle, strenuous up and down. Would recommend even on wet/windy day - under forest cover
Favorite track.... Very beautiful. Nice 4km loop to amazing stainless statue from this end. Recommend to all
