Closed since April 2021. Not worth driving here. What a pity.
Unfortunately, you can't see that much from the beach because there is a barrier there.

The stromatolites of Hamelin Pool are a globally significant attraction as it is one of a handful of places on earth where these ancient organisms can grow and survive. There existence here is due to the hyper saline ocean conditions which result in almost no competition for the cyanobacteria that make up these microbial mats and columns. Sadly, Cyclone Seroja caused damage to the boardwalk out and over the stromatolites so the cat park and boardwalk are currently closed; You can still access the beach where the stromatolites are located via a walking trail from the Hamelin Pool caravan park.
I loved this and it was very informative. Brilliant explanations on the signs of these micro organism dudes ?
About 1km unsealed road but any vehicle can do that. Very nice explanations of the natural phenomena. No facilities but within short walking distance to caravan park.
