Went there because of a recommendation. Water is warm and you can take a bath as long as you don’t get the water in your mouth/nose/ear (you can get really sick due to bacteria) but the smell is horrible and sticks to your skin and clothes.
A very pleasant hot bath! DON'T PUT YOUR HEAD UNDERWATER ⛔ and rinse well after no burglary for us, enjoy this SPA
Nice view with warm stream.. But you need to be careful. We were attacked by sandflies in winter (our first time so we only realised afterwards)
Gravel road in but my tiny car did fine just go slow. Super preety and nice and hot.
The best hot water in NZ... And its free. Be sure to check out both waterfalls. For thieves, we recommend using a baby monitor app between two phones as data signal is strong here.
100% RECOMMEND absolutely loved it here so peaceful and serene
The road (old waiotapu rd) was closed with no explanation given so we couldn't go today. Not sure if this is a permanent or temporary thing.
It’s private RD You can only drive in half way but parking there and walk to the pool, but water is not hot just warm, gravely road you wish you are 4x4
Nice spot to stay forever! Warm to hot water, friendly locals.. A bit crowded tough because of saturday afternoon, but not uncomfortable. Nature, free, hot stream to enjoy!
Very nice and unexpected! I did not expect the water to be this hot (37 degrees). There is a Gravel road to access it (2 or 3 kilometers), in poor condition. We saw 2 police officers, who were monitoring the parking lot. Only downside: we had small red glasses in our swimsuits, like maggots ... But it was nice anyway!
Kerosene Creek is a free natural hot spring with warm water. Reviewers praise its serene location, scenic surroundings, and relaxing atmosphere. Some reviewers note that the water is not extremely hot, but rather warm and pleasant. The creek has a gravel road leading to it, which can be rough and uneven.
Some reviewers express concerns about theft, as there have been reports of suspicious activity at the parking lot, including thefts. A few reviewers suggest bringing valuables with you and being cautious when leaving them unattended. Others have reported seeing police patrolling the area.
Reviewers also mention the presence of small red bugs or "verres rouges" in the water, which can stain clothing and jewelry. Some reviewers recommend taking precautions to avoid exposing their skin to the water, particularly in sensitive areas.
Despite these concerns, most reviewers rate Kerosene Creek positively, citing its natural beauty, relaxing atmosphere, and convenient location. They suggest visiting on weekends when the area is busier, as this can provide an added sense of safety. Overall, Kerosene Creek seems to be a popular spot for those seeking a natural hot spring experience, but visitors should be aware of the potential risks and take necessary precautions.
