Great camping spot! The owners are friendly and helpful. It was a short drive from Melbourne and the kids had a great time. Will certainly stay here again.
Loved it here. Really quiet, lots of unpowered and powered spaces. Nice frequently cleaned showers and toilets. *SHOWERS ARE FREE*. The Gentleman running the campground was unsure where the idea of paid showers had come from. Washing is $3 and drying is $1 per 15 mins (cheapest we’ve found anywhere in Australia). Really nice walking trail just next to the camp and wombats are around. Overall, it’s a wonderful camp and we felt really well looked after. There is a coles 30 mins away and an IGA about 20 minutes away. There is a Post Office that sells coffee and cakes etc right next to the campground, with a extremely lovely lady working there. Overall, couldn’t recommend Blackwood Campground more!
The campgrounds are nice enough as are the soda and mineral springs nearby. Just beware that coming on to the weekend, there will be a lot of people and noise. The toilets werent cleaned in the 3 days we stayed there. I know this as a group of backpackers came and trashed the ladies toilets, and upon me needing to shower, there was mud everywhere. I mopped the floor the 3 days I did stay there myself as people just have no consideration for others comfort. The toilets had stains in them and toilet paper across the floor. I cant speak for the mens toilets. I would have mentioned this to the owner, however, he already didnt come across as enthusiatic to previous feedback provided to him on an unrelater matter. Bring your own plates and dishwashing liquid as well as any cutlery and gas burner if you want to cook. The kitchen facilities are run down and the gas plate they have there leaks of the gas when turned on. We made a mention of this upon arrival, however, it wasnt fixed whilst we were there (may change?) We enjoyed seeing the black cockatoos and parrots on site. $3 for washing machine $1 per 15 minute for use of dryer.
Beautiful camping ground, small but near some mineral springs which u can sample and a couple of bush walks. Facilities are clean. It is a state national park, dogs allowed, some permanents, some powered sites, some with water and some without, managers were super friendly and helpful. There r some fire pits and a camp lichen with fridge , TV and BBQ, by the way, the showers were NOT $2.50 they were free, only cost if you are not staying in the camp grounds, strongly recommend.
Lovely camp right on a river with a swimming hole. Really lovely owners who let us check in an hour after closing time! Unpowered sites right next to the amenities which is rare!
$2.50 to use these showers, just ask at the info desk. Nice hot shower ??
