Fabulous place! Reasonable entry fee and loads of opportunities to interact with the animals. Must be even better with kids, but for adults it was already awesome. The Café looked great, but closes at 4:30pm. The road from Waikanae is horrible with a camper. Coming from Wellington is slightly better.
Have just had the best day at Staglands! Amazing place! So many animals to feed! Go!! You won’t regret it!
I absolutely love staglands it’s my favourite place to go in the holidays! I love feeding and petting the animals. I definitely recommend this as a great place to go in the holidays.
“Thank you for your review! We are delighted to hear you've been visiting Staglands during the holidays. We're pretty sure the animals are pleased to be fed, too. :) Thanks again for your review and we look forward to seeing you again here at Staglands!”
Very nice, clean and well-kept park. Worth a visit!
“Thank you for a wonderful feedback! We hope you had a fantastic experience during your visit. See you again at Staglands!”
Very nice Nacho’s , only have a nice lunch there but that was good!
“Thank you for your review!”
A great experience! A must for big and small! Everything was very nice. Cool paths and enclosures. Many birds and other small animals, all tame. We had been raining, defying very nice. The road from Upper Hutt is for all vehicles and the route from Waikanae is also ideal for cars and small campers. We have a small camper and came from Upper Hutt and went to Waikanae, did not want to drive the same way twice.
“We are delighted that you had a great experience on your visit! We hope you had an awesome time interacting with our birds and animals. We hope to see you again should you visit Wellington in the near future!”
The park is very beautiful. You can enter the aviaries and the keas nibble at the jacket. All animals are very tame as you can feed them. The access from Waikanae is very adventerous and only for drivers with nerves of steel.
We have just driven here in our 6 berth motorhome and ended up driving straight past as entrance to reserve was too steep, also the roads leading to this (provided by Sat Nav) were the scariest we have had to take with us only just making it round some of the bends!! There was no warning of this anywhere and I am pretty shaken up by the whole experience!!! There should be warnings about this journey somewhere!
“We are very sorry to hear about your experience. We have updated our Geo Zone listing & website to highlight that the road to Staglands may be challenging for drivers of large buses / Motorhomes and that access via the Hutt Valley is the recommended route for these vehicles.”
Sweet, little animal park. Not really cheap with 20 Dollar entrance but you can stay there all day long. Either you make a BBQ middle of the park or you can also use the local restaurant. You can feed and pet the animals (at your own risk/food isn't included in the price). Next to the animals visitors can also see how the agricultural equipment was used in the past.
