Great spot, and not crowded at all. You can dig your own hot tub. It's best to make a few test holes first; that way you'll find the perfect spot. We spent two evenings there and had a lot of fun. Just be sure to keep a close eye on the tides.
Super fun! Didn’t manage to dig a hole to bathe in as the tide was quite strong (even at low tide) but stuck our feet in the sand. When you come from the track just walk straight ahead to the water and you should find it
Check the moons!! We made the drive after Waitomo Caves and arrived exactly 2 hours before low tide. A local was down there and told us the springs will be out at knee height (you can move your feet around and feel the hot water on your feet when you’re in the water) because it’s quarter moon and won’t be on the beach for another week. Makes sense & explains why some people haven’t found them.
This was SO COOL! Definitely a must do during low tide. Once you go over the black sand dunes, go towards the right ( 1 on the clock) and look for bubbles coming from the sand then start digging and it’ll be hot water! If yours is only luke warm, dig somewhere else.
Road still closed. You need to walk on the beach for 1.5h to get there.
Road to hot water beach is temporarily closed, because of fire danger :(
Closed since a week til further notice!
We had super good weather 12/28/19 it was quite quiet on site. Others dug and we could test the temperature, it was warm but not hot. Still warmer than from the sea. We still found it beautiful there.
Beautiful and the hot water spot was straight down on the beach. When the tide goes down just watch out for the sand. Little smoke will come out and will tell you where to dig without making other holes beforehand! You may also have much hotter water ? enjoy
Excellent you can only do it in the 2 hours before and after low tide you climb the sand dunes then go straight out on to the beach go close to waters edge move left about 10 meters and dig it works a treat spent an hour relaxing in very hot water so totally worth it - sometimes you may have to dig a couple of holes don’t go to far from a cold one as 2 meters away it could be will be hot the hot water is not spread out it’s in about a 30 square meter area and remember must do it at low tide will not work otherwise
