I don’t understand all the comments about not being able to pass thru the river?! Just drive thru it! Super super remote location 3 hours drive down a dirt track into the bush. So remote actually staying there at night alone can be pretty scary as even with satellite SOS it would still take police 5 hours to reach you so it’s kinda down to you if something goes wrong…. Did some Ouija board and summon some demonic spirits which was fun, apart from that pretty uneventful.

We tried to go there to make Mount Owen but it s impossible to pass through the river. It was underflow after the dart river.

Wasp nest under the toilet. Bumble bees everywhere and we got stung. Lots of mosquitoes at night. The road in is dreadful. Narrow, dusty, bumpy and lots of creek crossings. Dont take a campervan or caravan.

The most beautiful place I've been so far. Camping is 6$, heaps of space and several nice, shorter walks in addition to the big hike up the mountain. One dump toilet and a few benches, plus a small bbq (bring coal) are available.

Really awesome place. Obviously quite a way out but if you want mountains and countryside its worth it! Loads of walks and if your patient, panning for gold isnt too difficult... Just don't expect the motherload....

Nice campground but it's remoteness is also it's biggest issue. A lot of sandflies and wasps for just a few human beings. If you plan to do the Mt Owen Track arrive after darkness, on daylight even with a lot of repellent not enjoyable.

Long drive, but worth it. Very quiet and uncrowded. Nearby river, bbq pit, long drop. No cell reception. Beware the sandflies tho'!
