Nice quiet place to stay. Right next to the sea, within 60 sec walk. The time I went there I had no problems with bugs, toilets are average. Phone signal is pretty low.
Beautiful spot but as everyone mentions the bugs are terrible at night, they don’t give a shit how much aerogard you have on. Toilets are only just okay, full of bugs.
We had booked at the SS Dorrigo, paying careful attention to the site being accessible without a 4x4, and unfortunately upon arrival we were very surprised by the sand making access impossible. We had a Toyota CamperVan but it was impossible to go further than the entrance. As a result, we paid for 2 nights but only spent one, parking on the only available patch of grass. If you don't have a 4WD, move on and go to the pitches further along the peninsula.
Place is amazing, and great although lots of mosquitoes and gadflies. Toilets are okay but last year I went and lots of people got gastro. Would recommend and would go again.
Beautiful spot and toilets were ok! However, a lot of mosquitoes and gadflies…
Very nice and huge campground, so close to the beach with view on Fraser Island. Careful, a lot of people did get sick with the gastro by using the toilets the last past months
Lovely quiet spot, we camped at SS Dorrigo behind dunes, campsites near the point are just off the beach with views, lots of space even on school holidays. BYO water, bad midges dawn and dusk- bring repellent, clean but smelly drop toilet.
It was all close when we arrive
We stayed at South Dorringo with a 15ft off-road poptop, the first 5 sites are ok then heavy sand to the rest of the sites. I made it about 200 mts in with the air pressures down and bottomed out the draw bar on the van. Spent the next 1/2 hour using maxtracks to reverse out, and stayed at the first couple of sites. A really nice place, though people really need to bring a toilet, so much toilet paper off to the bushes. Bring everything to be self-sufficient. Lovely surf beach through the sand dunes that may bother some because of the noise. We stayed mid Feb, the road was not busy and all the low cost camping grounds that we drove to are approximately 1/4 to 1/3 full so very quiet. We would stay again when in the area, maybe not on any main holidays.
Was okay for one night. Heaps of insects near the toilet, since they aren’t flushable. Also it’s not possible to eat in peace. Birds were really harassing us… tried to shoo them but they weren’t scared and continued pecking us and stealing our food. The location was great tho!!
