Now open 5 or more days a week; during school holidays usually 7 days a week. Check their Facebook or brooksanctuary. Org. Nz for further info. Great option if you like walks in a bush setting and don’t mind a climb or stream crossing, although a shorter walk is fully bridged. Nicest walk is up to Carter’s Crossing which takes about 3 hours. In April 2021 South Island tieke (saddlebacks) have been reintroduced, with more species to follow. Great community initiative which is steadily developing, thanks to many dozens of volunteers

Closed. High fire risk!
It's not open all week, so check before you go. It's in the early stages of development as a fully fledged tourist attraction. You pay/donate $5 per adult to go in and enjoy the various walks. The walks include river crossings and we're fun, also quite challenging (steep in places for long periods!). If you keep in mind that you're paying to help them develop, it's worth it.
Looks lovely but I’m afraid it’s shut until May :-(.
