It was a Rainy day so we decided to do a 1/2 day sea shuttle and it was fantastic. Our guides were so lovely and accomodating. They found a massive pod of dolphins which we hung round with for like an hour. It was really affordable too, definitely recommend.
We like the service very much! Attentive staff who gave info about the place and the animals. We could see seals and blue penguins!
Great service. Had to change our plans last minute and do it shorter because of baby fever and they were very helpful. In the discovery day tour we could see dolphins, seals... So happy with it!
We did the five beaches walk taking the boat directly to awaroa in the morning. It took us a little over 2 hours to complete the track. We walked fast but no running and took pictures on the way. The hike was marked as "demanding" but it only was a small portion of the track that was quite steep. Even that was an Ok gravel road. The park itself is spectacular. Really recommend visiting.
Today we did the Kayak, Seals & Cruise tour. I quickly booked it yesterday at the counter, which was open until 6pm. Good for us due to the long route from Wellington by ferry and then also to Kaiteriteri. The tour is recommendable, also for kayak-newbies like us. They explain everything, the kayaks (for two) are steady in the water and we felt safe, too. There is an extra storage compartment for backpacks in the kayak. They give you special drybags for your dry things. The equipment is in good condition. Recommended clothing: Below bathing clothes, after an hour of paddling it's possible to find a little puddle in your seat. For the upper body something that can get wet and dries fast. Some sort of functional wear, synthetic. Maybe some change for after the kayaking. Kayaking takes up the entire morning, after midday a ferry with guide drives past the seals and explains the park attractions and story, e.g. Split Apple Rock. After that they give you 2 hours of time at the beach of Anchorage where you can wander around or simply enjoy the beach. Both is great! After that the ferry brings you back and around 5pm you're back. Very good tour. Would do it again. There are also other offers. Best plan it ahead three, four days before, do what you like best considering the weather.
It was very nice to see that even in one day, it was possible to really enjoy this park. The gentleman at the desk was friendly and gave great recommendations. The price is worth it. We left in boats from the beach and saw off several beaches and sea lions. Then the boat dropped us at the start of a walk 10km (3 hours walking nonstop for us).The walk was magic in the middle of the forest and beaches. Then the boat came to pick us.
A really great way to see Abel Tasman and some of the little bays along the park. A professional outfit that goes out of their way to make sure you get the experience you are desiring. Excellent commentary during the boat trips as well. And the onboard food was pretty good too!
