Great place, definitely recommended - not only for birders!

This was one of the highlights of our trip! We learnt so much about the birds of NZ and conservation efforts that are being made all over the world. Took some fantastic photos and overall had a great experience

Great spot. Very educational and nice walk to the bird hides

Really great! We went for a nice walk to the bird blinds and watched the wrybills flying and other shorebirds wandering around. The staff was super nice and informative and they let us take showers here in exchange for a donation. They also offer backpacker style dorm accommodation, 25$ pp.

A bummer at the edge of the road with the noise of cars. 3 seagulls ,ducks and swallows with cows ........

Beware of the tides. When we were there it was low tide and we couldn't see any birds...

Nicely set up walk and bird hides - just ensure you go at high tide! The Centre further up the road has plenty of information and binoculars for hire.
