Just a short boat ride from Yeppoon, this tropical paradise offers crystal-clear waters, pristine beaches, and vibrant marine life, perfect for beach lovers, adventure seekers, and nature enthusiasts.
Highlights include Shelving Beach, Monkey Beach, and Leekes Beach, known for for their amazing swimming and snorkelling.
For hikes and walks, the Great Keppel Island Seaway Trail is lovely 300m boardwalk that starts at Fisherman’s Beach and features 15 marine-shaped sculptures, each sharing fun facts and conservation messages about local sea life. For the hikers, check out Mount Wyndham Circuit, where you'll take in breathtaking panoramic views of the island and Wyndham Cove on this 3.5-hour trek. As the highest peak on the island, Mount Wyndham offers a rewarding challenge, with some steep sections along the way.
Be sure to also check out the lighthouse, for other amazing coastal views.
Freedom Fast Cats and Keppel Konnections both operate ferries to Great Keppel Island, but neither offers regular service to the nearby National Park islands (Freedom does on a charter basis only). The easiest option is to take a ferry to Great Keppel Island - note that camping isn’t permitted there - and then arrange a transfer with Keppel Dive.
