We spent a night there. It has flush toilets and sinks for washing dishes. There were people camping with tents and cars. Many spots have power, but they were all taken when we arrived. Quiet and beautiful. Don’t forget the donation 😊
Excellent free campground. There's a large sandy area with bays for vans, each bay has its own fire pit and some are powered, or park up in one of the grassed areas. Large undercover area with electric bbqs, sinks, seating and powerpoints. Clean, flushing toilets, kids play ground, fishing with permit. 2 night max stay, water isn't potable and virtually no phone signal
This place is a gem. Clean toilets/great facilities. For a free site, this has to be the top of the list. Only one downside was the local farmer/s had gas guns going off all day and night - I’m guessing to scare the wildlife from the crops. If you’re a light sleeper like us, you might not get much sleep. I’m sure this is not a regular thing as no one else has mentioned it.
The best free camp !
Probably the best free camp we’ve had. Drive beyond the weir to the boat ramp to access about 30 level sites. Some sites have power if you get in early enough! Well laid out with lots of sites with firepits, as well as 2 big communal firepits with a stack of cut wood. A new-looking bbq area, undercover, has 2 deep sinks, electric bbqs and plenty of seating/tables(accessible by ramp or steps). There are other sites on the way in too. Bins provided and toilets are clean new too.
Nice spot for a night or longer. Flush toilets and power if you get there early.
This spot is now in our top 10 camp sites, (despite a local couple trying to drink themselve to oblivion), this is a great spot, get there early to get a good site overlooking the weir.
Had 2 days here and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, Chinchilla is a great town and the shops had excellent friendly staff
