Stayed here in November 2021 for one night. There was quite a bit of kindling around but BYO firewood. Great stop. No water in the dam but it didn’t matter. We went to the bottom camp ground, near the toilet and behind the dam, peaceful plus! One other camper there but so far away you could barely see them. The place is really quite huge. Surprised by the toilet actually being a flush loo! Bonus was about 7 ponies in the middle of the road when we were leaving who came right up to the car and one of them stuck their head in the window! Very random and hilarious!
A free campground at Niagara Dam near Kookynie with limited facilities. Large gravel/dirt flat parking area with limited shade. Facilities include drop toilet, dump point, bins, covered seating no open fire pits (BYO wood). Weak Telstra reception but no Optus or TV. Suited as a multi-night stay. Quiet and scenic with two short trails from the day use area around the dam and through the breakaways.
The road in is now all sealed. Fascinating place a dam in the middle of auah a dry are. No real water of course. In the lower campsite there is a dump point. Toilet in day use area ok but no paper. Toilet in lower campsite has been vandalised and out of action.
Not a bad spot - would be better with more water. Lower level campsite looks best.
In itself a nice place with a lot of space - so no parking space problem. However, the toilets are very dirty.
Lovely spot shame there’s no water in the Dam it’s as dry as a bone ? spoilt for camping spots no phone or internet very peaceful we’ll be gong back ?
A stunning location! Limited facilities - one toilet, and lots of camp sites. Fires allowed during winter months but take your own wood.
Excellent spot to overnight or stay for a few days. Plenty of room.
