I assume I got the rude host, he didn't actually tell me who he was. He knocked on my van and as soon as I opened the door he rudely said "you're a bit close", to what I don't know as there was ample space. I asked if he needed me to move and he again rudely said "nah you're just close" then asked if I had a toilet & shower, I said yes and then he stormed off in a huff. Otherwise the site is great, spacious and free. Some noise from nearby sports fields in the evening but this ends by 9pm.
Read many comments about an unfriendly host but when we arrived the host was lovely! Chatty, curious about our travels and helpful about what to see in Port Hedland. Yes, it’s self contained only but if you follow the rules you’re absolutely fine here. Good place to stay
good place. No tents, camper trailers or rooftop tents are permitted no toilet and shower
Great spot. Huge area for loads of campers. We were one of three vans, the rest were caravans. Arrived late, left early. Tidy, quiet, slept well.
We came in around 6pm with our 4x4 rooftoptent And left at 6 am with no problem. There is a public toilet at the playground but it was really nasty. You need your own toilet (we had one)
We went there late in the evening (recommended!) and stayed overnight. There are A LOT of rules, and we fulfilled them all: self-contained, no hanging clothes, gray water tank, shower… In the morning, a very unkind volunteer approached us and said: “Do you have a toilet and shower? (looked inside without permission) No, then you cannot stay”. We then showed her our toilet and the shower, but she said that was not a shower (?) and that we had to leave anyway. Happy to do so!
All in all great You just have to meet the requirements and follow the rules, but it's free and quite well located, close to the coast and shopping opportunities. There's also a lot of space there, ideal for us on the way through.
Excellent free camp for 3 nights. Recommend if staying in port headland and you are fully self contained.???? BW.
Must be fully self contained, need to have a built in shower and toilet. We were kicked out for having an indoor port-a-toilet
This is a great place for 3 free nights, BUT only if you are fully self contained. You must have shower, toilet, and self contained greywater. The site manager has an extremely abrupt manner when speaking to over night 'guests' even those doing the right thing. NO Greywater is to be released on the grounds. No generators. No tents or campervans. We had the riot act read out to us on arrival. We can recommend the twilight bus tour. Very informative.
