Most beautiful place to visit. Toll old trees and untouched nature. Nice car park with toilets. Some people stayed overnight there in their vans. All walks were open as well as tracks to the huts.
Brilliant place, really excellent rainforests with lots of kaka up in the trees. We did the 30min waterfall loop and a short 15-20mins gets you too the gorge if you go on the longer route. Apparently the central hut is excellent too.
Whirinaki Forest is primeval, one of the world’s last prehistoric rain forests, a truly special place to visit. The road from Minginui is gravel and narrow but quite doable in our 6m camper. There is a good car park where several great tracks start.
Did the waterfall loop! Beautiful native forest that makes you feel like you’re in Jurassic Park or Avatar. Expected more birdlife though.. Sad to see the damage the stouts and rats has to the native animals. The canyon was really cool!
