Tongariro Crossing Shuttles
Tongariro Crossing Shuttles

Well organized parking lot, the Tongariro shuttle worked perfectly
We parked our car in the car park and paid each for them to take us to the start. They were fantastic and the little walk to the car at the end is worth it for the freedom of not waiting for a shuttle/ride.
Dont go up the gravelroad there is no shuttle. The shuttle starts on the great carpark at the highway.
“That is correct all shuttles are caught from a village or town”
The tongariro crossing is closed till monday morning(13.1.2020) due to a tragic death at the peak of the track.
“That is correct”
No choice hitchhiking so they go up the prices. $ 35 for 22 km (30minute) at 7am, on a bus without heating (it was colder than outside), the very friendly driver was driving with mittens and a cap so it was cold ... BUT WE ARE WHERE ????? -> hoooooo have to wake up ... do you know what i call it ?! Flight !!!!!!! The company are thieves !! I paid for the buses in more than 50 countries, to see in very very disadvantaged countries where we shared our seat with chicken and goat, at least there was heating !!! For me there is no excuse, it's this jerk of the mouth of tourism, it's stealing Tourists because it will be there only once ... Pfff pathetic. I myself come from an extremely expensive country: Switzerland .. But even at home I have never seen that 35 $ NZ for 22km in 30 Minutes, without heating. I almost want to cry.
“Yes we are all the same price not matter what company you go with. % of the $ go back to the Tongariro Track to help maintain the lovely Tongariro Park and the rest of NZ. MM no heating thats not good.”
Great service - collected promptly at both the start and the end of the trek. Helpful friendly bus drivers in both directions too. Great day all round!
“Thank you”
Were there 15 minutes before and bus was already gone. However, in advance, there were no instructions to be there earlier, the ticket itself says "meet at 10 o'clock". Everything was totally bad and confusing signposted, you do not know exactly where to pick you up from the shuttle. Schild says: "visitors go to office", however, was NO ONE at the office, nor at the service point! Other hikers met whom it was similar. A lot of money ($ 80) for very little or better no service!
“Our bizarre we man our office from 5.30 to 8pm along side Plateau Lodge we have 3 staff on each day. The ticket states arrive 10mins early .mmmm”
Perfect. They picked us up promptly at 7am from the hike exit. We were able to hike right back to our car and not have to wait for a bus.
“Great to hear you had a day”
Shuttle arrived on time, driver was nice
“Great to hear”
I had wonderful expiring events there. However it kinda difficult to find exact pick-up location address for the shuttle, they name them by their names my navigation doesn’t recognize names. You have to do research online to understand where you have to go. By the crossing itself you can’t leave your car longer then 4hours.
“Yes you do indeed need to research the Tongariro Alpine crossing and work out what style of service you are after.”
