Great walk. My first in new zeland. I did it in January so be careful the sun beats hard. Do not forget caquette and sunscreen. Wonderful views over the pacific and truly impressive reefs.

In good weather there are too many tourists and an overcrowded car park. The views are definitely worth it.

To find the walking track, go like that: Standing on the beach facing the ocean, go left. There is a private house on the very left end of the beach. But look closely, there is a self painted sigh with "public walk". Go up the stairs, you enter the walk. After a while, there is a choice to go left and right. I went right. There is a cliff that seems to be damaged by the earthquake. Nobody lives in the houses there. The walk seems to end there but it's not. If you go down to the beach, you find it is going on at the other side of the beach. And that part afterwards is the bet part. Next time you can choose, going to the right is a good choice, don't know about left. The view is really nice, walk can be slippery when wet, take care. But on the way, I met two local women passing me on what seems to be their usual outdoor sport trail, so it does not seem to be dangerous. I went there when it was wet, so it's doable in about 1-2 hours, depends on how long you enjoy the view. It was 1-2hours one way, you can go back the same way or on the street down to the beach.
