We went on Christmas Day to enjoy the beach but when we arrived we saw an old man verbally abusing people in the car park, accusing them of not paying the $2 even though they DID pay it. He approached us and asked for the money but we didn’t have $2 so decided to leave, the old man didn’t leave the car park until he was sure we had left. So ridiculous. What a miserable person to yell at people for no reason on Christmas!

Don't ever go there! We payed 2 dollars, went fishing and when we came back we got insulted, abused and threatened and reported to the police for "being on their land" even though it's meant to be a car park for the public. We felt really insecure and we didn't do anything. The one guy even tried to break our car window with a torch. Just don't go there, it's not worth it.

We were just stopping for a quick look at the beach and we were expected to pay $2 - if we were spending the whole day there it would have been worth it but not for a quick stop and a look.

Awesome beach! There is a privat carpark $2 per car & you can access the beach through their privat land. The owners are very nice and friendly, just PAY ON ARRIVAL and you won’t have a problem. Anyways. I highly recommend to stop here!

One of the best beaches in New Zealand! Beautiful scenery and great surf!! Came here 3 days in a row. Paying for parking is not ideal but definitely worth it ??

The beach is very nice. The area a little scary. A French girl came to us and told us that just after parking a woman came running and took two dollars. Then a car parked nearby and watched them.

Don't park at the car park ! People break car !! Careful

$2 honesty box to park. You can also walk over the te pahi bird reserve to the next bay. Surfable waves.
