A switch back to get up there but it’s not too steep. There is then about 500m of flat track and you’re at the lake. Beautiful views. You can carry on further up the hill for a look back down over the lake from a wooden platform or just walk around the lake area a bit. All in all it’s very nice and easy to get to.

Really nice track and view since we could not hike Roys peak, i think the view is quite similar

On that day (28/12/2020) the lake is open for walks. Well maintained tracks with unique fauna and flora. Climbing up to the platform view, overlooking the lake on the foreground and treble cone on the background. Worth a visit!

It’s open! Great hike but would def recommend starting up the eastern track way (like another comment said!) We did and are glad we chose that way, some very steep narrow passages that we are glad we climbed up into versus down. Would arrive very early before the hoards of people show up and make it less enjoyable! We arrive around 830/9am and it was great

Definitely open and popular. We set off walking at 9:30 with just a couple of other cars in the car park. Took about 2.5 hours to do the full Rocky Mountain loop. Would recommend once you get to the split path (with a sign) to take the eastern route upwards and the western down as while the western is a more gradual ascent there are steep parts where the path is quite erroded and requires some clambering/climbing that is easier downhill. Beautiful views from the lookout and the top - would recommend the short 5-10min detour to the lookout on way.

The track is open and absolutely worth is. Going to the summit and back took us 2,5 hours. As the western track has been quite muddy and by that a little bit challenging at some points as we did it two days ago, rather take this one on your way up and the eastern track to go down. Oh, and better don't go in sneakers unless you want wet feet ;)
