Donβt try it. Three vans blocking the spots starting from 1-2pm already. Normally nice spot but useless if itβs used like that.
As others say, pointless 20+ min detour just to find three vans hogging the spaces. Either they're all wasting everyone else's time, or the system is broken and doesn't show check-ins. Not worth it even if free as it's cosy.
Great views but only place for 4-5 campers. Be careful not parking 30cm outside the signals, they're going to find you and fine you, even at 2:30 am. 400$NZ specificaly.
Does look very nice but beware most people seemingly donβt check in and it is disappointing to drive that far out of the way only to find no spots remain - and with only three spots available, good luck.
Absolutely gorgeous spot but fills up way before 6pm, we got there at 5 on the first day and the 3 spaces were taken so we went earlier the next day. We left a little after 8am and didnβt have any issues the other two vans were still there we were just worried about getting fined!
The system that tells you if spaces are available isn't working; unfortunately, I went and they were all taken. The place looks very nice, but I recommend going early to get a spot.
Very nice place on the lake. Super view, beautiful sunrise.- and sunset. Unfortunately there are only 3 seats. We were lucky to get one. The booking system is not quite mature. So it makes sense not to come so late. In August now probably no problem. No toilet nearby!!!
Beautiful place but only three spots. And as other people have already mentioned, people arrive way too early to reserve their spots without checking in. Disappointing experience
People do not respect the 6pm arrival time. Do a drive by earlier 5:30-5:45 and check for campers. If those campers are there at 6pm call the council on +64 3 443 7243 and report them. $400 fine for not adhering to the rules.
Do NOT waste your time going here. Even though the online status will say all 3 locations are available, you will show up and all spots will be taken by small vans that may or may not be self contained. Also, there is no reason for this campsite to only be 3 spots. There is a ton of room in the area.
