I booked a kayak trip on the clutha river. Perfect for first timer going kayaking in white water. The guide has done an amazing good job to explain how to kayak and had some interesting knowledge about New Zealand as well.

Stunning lake setting, beautiful clean water - the lady on the sales desk was helpful and $20 per person was a reasonable price for the SUP boards for an hour
