So many seals, very nice!

Stoped here on our way back from lighthouse today, it is about 2km, we saw a small “parking place” on left side with lots of rocks and lots of seals and pups ass well! Awesome

Probably saw close to a hundred seals including pups! You can pull over anywhere past the point on the beach and see seals. It was very windy when we went, almost knocked us over. Stay low and at least 20m from seals to be safe. They are protective and territorial. One of the coolest things we’ve done in New Zealand so far!!

This is the best seal colony we have seen after 7 months in Nz ! May is breeding time so for sure you will see a lot of little Pups in the natural pool ! We spent hours watching the show ! Enjoy and respect the animals! They are quite scare of humans so don't go too close please !

Great recommendation! Absolutely gorgeous indeed. We arrived around 5pm and had to drive a little further until we saw rock formations and them having fun swimming. We walked as close as possible and just sat there quietly for an hour or so, watching them. They were equally as curious and actually came really close towards us to look at us and have a sniff! Amazing. Loved it so much. Indeed the greatest experience of our roadtrip. Seeing seals in their natural habitat and coming up close out of their own unforced curiosity.

The worst road of New Zealand (so far) towards the lighthouse leads you directly to the seals.. Be careful all of a sudden the sealed road goes into gravel road with a big heavy bump and after the curve flows water over the road. We thought we couldn't cross and wanted to turn around till a post car winked us like "it's normal you can go". It's also a thin road and curvy. Watch out as there is a cliff you don't want to fall into. You can see a lot of seals chilling on the rocks. Go stop and come a bit closer but careful their poop stinks like hell :D sweet creatures though and the young ones are playful in the water, biggest seal colony on the north island!

So beautiful!!! So many seals with their babies, unbelievably beautiful. Important, respectful distance keep!
