A really quit place. The beach is beautiful. A hole toilet but very clean.
Long gravel road but no different to any in NZ. Beautiful spot to camp. Be mindful of where you park as limited designated parking for campers and the soft sandy verges left one camper stuck. Friendly local pulled the stuck person out. Long drop by car park. July 2023.
Long road of corrugated metal. Very tough and harsh on car and caravan.. Not suitable for front wheel drive vehicles towing. Once at camp sites, very peaceful spot. Enjoyed watching nature and the beautiful sea crashing against the rocks. Pleased to safely drive out. 67562 FLICCA Felicity and Ian Clarke
What a lovely camping spot. 2 camping areas here and 2 more further on at Te Awaiti. We have a 7 meter camper van and had no trouble turning around. The gravel road out to Tora and Te Awaiti is just like any normal gravel road in NZ. People live there and we watched fishermen checking their pots. Shame it rained whilst we were there and the sea was rough other wise we could have had a shell fish hunt. True wilderness experience for real people
Looks perfectly fine! Stay by donation, right on waters edge, toilet and bin provided. Plenty of grass to stay on if you don't want to brave the gravel drive. Thumbs up!
Sign now says , no caravans , no camper vans and no Dogs
This is a tiny camping area in a depression, off the gravel road and not in view of the sea. It is depressingly small and very rutted where vehicles have clearly become bogged in wet weather. It’s only saving grace is that it is a short walk to the beach and one of the only permitted/accessible fishing spots. If you are really into beaches/fishing then OK, but have very low expectations and be prepared for a disappointment.
Epic spot, good surf. Respect our country and pick up your rubbish and any that others have left to keep it beautiful for the future
What is this place. The road out to here is long winding and not nice rocks in middle of road half of it is gravel. And when wet very slippery. DO NOT go when wet the gaming is all on grass and floods easy. Nothing here at all and if you need to turn you van around good luck there is no turning room.
This is Kiwi coast unspoiled except for the coastal farm lands. Higher up the cliffs it is easy to imagine that this is how it has always looked since its earliest development. We arrived in most and cloud and awoke to cloudy sunny day. If you are the traveller that takes only photos and leaves only footprints this is perfect. Use the bins provided. My wife and I cleaned others mess left behind as I can't bear to see such beauty buggered by careless users.
