Came here to take a break from freedom camping for 1 night and expected to be able to use the facilities after paying to stay here. Turns out you have to pay to use the washer and dryer which doesn’t sound bad but you have to use coins, as well as needing to pay to use the oven for 30 minutes. The radiator in the kitchen turned off after about 5 mins. And there’s no plug socket in the women’s bathroom for a hair dryer/straighteners. Also the ‘hot’ shower turns off after 2 minutes. Awful
Quiet, protected from the wind and the amenities were great. Just a bit cold in the bathrooms but to be expected, would reccomend
Stayed during the cyclone for two nights. The staff on the desk were lovely, facilities are good with a well equipped kitchen and laundry area. Showers could have been stronger and hotter but ultimately a very decent spot!
It was 44 NZD. Otherwise, stuff was helpful. About cleanliness, kitchen was ok. Showers would use a bit of cleaning.
Friendly, clean, well maintained facilities. Lovely hot showers.
Facilities of this campsite are great. Everything you need in the kitchen including chopping boards pots and pans etc, very clean and has the option to sit in the kitchen area to eat which we appreciated. The toilets and showers are clean and shower was lovely an warm , the hairdryer was a massive plus. Staff are really friendly and the campsite has a lovely quiet calm vibe to it. Would recommend and worth $44.
Will give credit for the shower pressure, was very strong which was nice. However the price is absolutely not worth what you get. We paid $70 for powered, one night. So many rules, $6 for washing, cannot hang your clothes at your campsite- you must hang them on their lines. No pegs provided for the washing line that you had to use, and because there wasn’t much room we had our damp washing shoved into the corner to make room for other peoples stuff!! $4 to use the oven for 30 minutes?
Overall, a good campsite. The site is well located next to the town. The staff are friendly 😊. However, the campsite needs some renovation; the children's play area is old, as are the showers, toilets, and kitchen. Okay for one night, but not more.
Great people, great location. Great kitchen and outside BBQ close to the office was good but the ones further down to the road didn't work. The showers are a little used but clean. Over all a bit expensive compared to the quality of other sites in my opinion.
We arrived and automatically felt a wave of feeling down. The site was grey and barren with no one else around other than permanent residence which occupy a lot of the park. The park isn’t worth the money we paid, would be alright for a stop over but certainly wouldn’t stay there for a long period of time or by myself. We were able to do some washing and chuck our rubbish out but ended up leaving to stay at Taupō top 10 Holiday Park as we just didn’t feel right.
