I spent amazing hours around the summits in the sun! Yes, its the typical West Coast steep and wet track,thinking about each step, but also quite fun with roots. The first two 'lookouts' are just tiny peeks through trees, the third shows a bit more but hey,then you're already halfway to the top 360°! Take whole day and go all in. 3hrs up 3 down. I let my shoes with socks dry and walked barefoot on the soft mossy ridge and relaxed...

Start of the hike on the freecamp. 2 possibilities, that is to say just to make the 3 easy access points of view but with a lot of mud, 2h round trip. Or go to the top if you are in good physical condition and good equipment because it is very muddy, very slippery on the roots of the trees and with a passage where it climbs very hard. Our trekking poles allowed us to climb with greater ease and especially to avoid big falls. Count 8 hours round trip in bad weather, around 7 hours in good weather.

Great hike, after the third Lookout it became really muddy and wet. Slides happened a lots of time. So if you go after rainy day or night be well prepared and watch yourself on the way down can easily fall. ( become one of my fav track ?)

No Carpark where Google maps location takes you. Instead use Iveagh Bay campsite as location. Walk starts from the Carpark. Lovely walk with good views. Quite muddy though

Track of 2 hours for see the 2 views points of you haven't the time to make the track of 8 hours. Make sure you are prepared because there is a lot of mud and roots on the track

Hard and steep track, but such an amazing view from the top - one of my highlights! (It says 8 hours return at the sign, but took me just about 6 hours)

Had to turn back after 20 minutes as they were biiig tree truncks on the way. Only first view point (15 min from parking lot) is accessible, pleasant walk to reach it. On 11.04

Amazon 360° view from the top. Don't stop until you reach the bush line if you want to enjoy the view. Some really steep sections. Good track, lots of roots but pretty dry (end of March).

1 hour to the view point not worth it - farm land and a bit of lake. You can continue on for a further few hours through bush (you can see from the bottom the bushline is right before the summit) which we got bored of and turned back. Maybe the view at the top is good. We saw goats on the way back which was cool.

Wonderful hike with views of the Tasman Sea and the Arthur Pass Mountains! With the snow on the summits it was magic! Attention, hike not to underestimate because many roots and quite steep! But the reward is worth the effort :-) Small plus: sunset on Lake Brunner from the parking lot: beautiful !!
