This is a good one night stop over but wouldn’t stay any longer. The car park is smaller than the photo shows. It is a designated camp spot. Stayed here on a week night and it was an active area not just for campers. But it’s good for a stop over if needed. Toilets were ok.

Nice place with hot and cold showers and tables as well as a playground. There were birds in the trees which was quite pleasant. We were alone all night. Very cold when we woke up. I recommend it.

Great little place, we were there alone. Toilets and free hot showers. Nice little town. But you shouldn't approach Captains Flat from the south, it's a difficult sandy road that took almost 2 hours to cover just a few kilometers. The road from the north is very good.

Pros; The rest area itself is fine, toilets are stocked with toilet paper and there is parking enough for maybe 5 campers. The stargazing is magnificent, never seen anything like it, a big open field next to the park allows for that! Cons; No phone signal whatsoever Petrol pump that has been closed for 10 years or so I learned from a local Only road I could tell that went onward was to Braidwood and that was about 20km on a gravel road, bad ‘road’ conditions even the cows were wondering why we were on that road. A fleet of cars turned up at 10pm as we were just settling in for the night and parked up, made noise for 2 minutes and all left again, not sure if this is a teenage meet-up spot or what. There is nothing in the town that I could see, not even any people walking around, quiet creepy, but just old and not many citizens

Arrived in the dark on a saturday night and noise everywhere. The area looks nice, the place to camp is just the parking spot. Showers are still closed, We decided to leave.

Nice place, hot showers and water. There is a small playground for children. The toilets and showers are a bit dirty, but perfectly fine. We really enjoyed being here.

Free, drinking water, hot showers, play and sports area. Municipal swimming pool next to it. Awesome ! It is absolutely necessary to cross the bridge?

The best free camp spot. Hot showers. HOT SHOWERS. Great BBQ, playground and exercise equipment too. Level spots on gravel. Good for vans, not much space for caravans.

One of the best free camping areas ever! Slept in a tent the grass. There was a free hot shower, a free bbq, toilets, bin and even a small exercise area. Oh and we saw a wombat. ? No fireplace.
