Incredible spot if you have a 2WD (not sure about in rainy weather), you have access to magnificent riverside spots. Definitely worth the detour. Telstra reception is relatively good at the top of the hill.
Beautiful place next to river. 2WD accessible and toilets and bins in rest area. No telstra reception. If you have a 4WD drive down for a beautiful shady riverside spot. There were however 8-10 people having a rave with loud music until after 2am. Might happen more than once given the amount of empty beer cans left behind scatterd across camp sites. We were there on a Friday night, might be better during the week.
Spent a few nights here. Unless you have 4WD to get down by the river the. You’re up by the loo and bins which is fine but very unlevel. We were lucky and got a relatively level spot but watched others struggle and many come and go. Road in was fine for 2WD. Space to turn around easily. Many diff birds enjoying the river and trees. Only shade is by the river.
Brilliant spot — absolutely beautiful and well worth a stop. There’s plenty of room, with camping available on both sides of the river. Facilities include toilets and bins, and there’s good cell service if you head up the hill. The freshwater creek is a highlight, home to birds and fish, with a few rope swings adding to the fun. Loads of tracks to explore and plenty of space to set up, even if you arrive after dark. An absolute must-stop, you won’t be disappointed. - Sailing with the Jameses
Very beautiful and peaceful. Toilet was clean also the ranger came in the morning to collect the bins. Very friendly. It is quiet and peaceful but the road is unpadded also has lots of cracks. Need to be careful to drive in. You can see flock of birds flying together over the river. If I drive this way again I will definitely staying here one more time. Highly recommended!
This is a beautiful free rest stop, if you have a 4WD you can park up right next to the river and go swimming and watch birds. You can hear the road but the spot is still peaceful and we ended up staying an extra day. There’s one toilet and bins. Would definitely recommend over staying in Karratha.
Stayed 1 night next to the water drop toilets lovely evening nice a quiet plenty of room if you look around will be back
Nice spot. Just right for a break. Plenty of parking and Shady.
Great spot just out of Karratha Perfect for a swim and break
Free spot. Too rough to get down with low clearance 4x4. But on the way out I found another little track from main road to get down to the river easier! So you can try by that. Toilet can’t lock but mostly people with caravan don’t really use it. Beautiful sunset view by the river and hills. Recommended!
