Travel time April/May: Registration at the harbormaster's office (until 5 pm), after that by phone. Very friendly, but despite its proximity to Auckland, not very popular in the off-season (a total of 1 motorhome and 2 caravans). The campsite is further south than the app indicates. NZD 35 per person is reasonable for one night.
Friendly staff, quiet location and awesome view on auckland. Just think 35/person is expensive (showers 2$).

Very nice spot. Super friendly staff at check-in. Not busy at all, 2 other campervans. Clean toilets and a coffee cart next door. Also conveniently near the ferry.
Best place to visit Auckland!!! Just 10’ ferry to CBD. Showers and WC (not working from 6-8:30 am!) Only one thing negative: the traffic to get there. So better if you are heading north.
Very quiet camping place, we arrived here first day of our trip. Friendly lady at the checkin, toilets were very clean. Very easy to get to the city center using the ferry. Spatious spots. We could check out when we wanted to since it was not so busy. Would recommend for a quick visit to Auckland 😌
This is the PERFECT spot if you want to visit Auckland and need a place for your campervan/motorhome. Also perfect of you hired a van and need to get things sorted before returning it in Auckland. Wonderful view of the skyline. We visited early December and stayed two nights. 1st night 2 other campers, 2nd night 1 other. Facilities are clean, 2$ for hot shower, also laundry available. The ferry to downtown Auckland literally starts at the campground and takes only 10 mins. 100% recommend!!
Pretty view but if the grassed area is closed, you’re literally parked in the middle of a car park with other cars and busses coming and going all the time which makes it expensive for a not particularly nice or peaceful surroundings. It’s also an EXTRA $30 to use the toilet block and another $2 for a short shower. If you’re staying over a weekend, the ferry is infrequent.
Stayed 1 night, website sounds very strict but I filled out the online form the day before and they only charged me $30 (not $40 for short notice), did not charge the $30 extra for access to the shower/laundry area but the facilities are still coin operated. Lovely views of the city and $8 adult fare to downtown one way. Staff are super lovely and there's overnight security patrols. Only one other camper when I stayed, such a quiet place for being so close to the CBD!
If you want to go there on the weekend, the office is not open - but you can talk to the security to check in. Not sure if that only works if you stay till after the weekend tho...
I don’t understand the other comments. This site is really nice : there’s a good view on the city center, bathrooms and showers are very clean, the staff is so sweet. And it’s also very calm and quiet. Prices are reasonable and it’s only $2 for hot showers (but cold ones are free) like in other campgrounds. I highly recommend !
