Beautiful! Our first stop after picking up our Campervan (self contained) in Auckland. Took the Ferry from half moon bay. Campsite has potable water. Also has showers & toilets, no electricity. Campsite is perfect nearly on the beach. We visited wineyards during our 2 nights here. Only 5 of 80 spaces were booked - so nice & peaceful!
Beautiful camp spot, however the code we were given for the gate was wrong (we weren’t the only ones) no phone service in the area so we needed to drive up the road in order to get a hold of someone to help. Great toliets, we only saw one open air cold shower on the site.
I paid online. App says gate is open 24hs. I got 4 booking confirmation emails with no lock code. One of the emails said gate is open until 9 pm. I show up at 7.20 pm, gate is locked. No one there, no combination. I tried calling, no one answered after 10 minutes of holding. Rules should be more clear.
Stunning part of the island, with waterfront camping. Good facilities.
Beautiful spot, quiet, clean toilets, outside shower and washing up sink. Bit of a convoluted process to book online but got there in the end! Create an account with the council online before you bother choosing dates/number of people otherwise you just have to do it again.
First stop in our campervan, loved it so much we stayed extra nights. The sites are spread apart and nicely isolated. BEAUTIFUL beach, sunrise/sunset, great space for playing soccer/games. Refreshing cold outside shower. Host was helpful and friendly. Clean water fill up spot. Only campsite on island and amazing! Must go and spend a few days
Who was there in 2019? Is the camp still available? Is a visit worthwhile?
The best place ever! Had to phone for the combination lock code as the one I had didn’t work. Phone in main car park so no hassle.... Ranger just hadn’t reset it... Lovely chap when I met him later. Friendly, helpful.... Can’t say enough nice things about this site... Other than I’m changing my return ferry so I can stay longer!!
A beautiful place in nature and right on the water. The rangers are very nice. From now on it is only possible to book and pay via the internet. That makes it more complicated. I find the new Auckland Council prices overpriced for the winter season. Thanks for this beautiful place.
Direct contact over site phone with someone to sort payment and gate code. Site clean with toilets/shower (outside) , BBQ and beach right by site.
