Lovely little campsite right next to a river! Has a kitchen, toilets and showers. Marcus was extremely helpful with recommendations and advice as it was our first time travelling in a camper in NZ!
Marcus was a gentleman. He was more than helpful in getting us set up as we arrived later in the evening. The site is very unique and offers small trails up a hill close by which has a fabulous view of lake Forsyth. The site gives a rustic and warm vibe and is a lovely spot to switch off and be with nature. It has basic drop toilets and hot showers. Just make sure you bring 2$ coins for hot showers.
We had a huge spot for ourselves. It’s a beautiful and clean camping, both the kitchen and the bathrooms. The communication with Marcus was very clear and nice. He made an amazing walk on his property with nice picknick spots and view points. If there is a spot free; always book it!
Thanks for the positive comment. Most of the time we have plenty of sites, so if you like space and quiet, we are a good option. We have some lovely short walks up the hill to views of the lake and valley. Especially good at sunset. You can book on line or call Marcus on 021 611820.
The owner is very friendly, but the pitches are very close together. It's quite noisy due to the proximity. The overall condition of the facilities is average. The dry toilets are not used correctly, resulting in visually impaired users.
Thanks for the comment. Most of the time we have large sites, but it can get busy on weekends and over the schoiol holidays. Our facilities are rustic - we make most from reclycled material - we use the dry toilet system to save water and it is better for the environment. If they are not used correctly they can be smelly....like any toilet that is not used properly.
Marcus was really helpful, decent spot, but faculties on the more basic side and has paid showers.
We do recommend potential guests to read the info on our website and this platform, so you know what to expect. Basic facilities what we provide - but set in a beautiful native forerst with a cool small river. Its more about the nature, so if you're looking for a natural, safe stay, you may like our campground. We have to charge ($2) for showers to conserve water and so guests don't take all day in the showers.....I hope this is understandable.
A lovely cozy and friendly place, the owner is very kind and friendly and there are great amenities such as a shared kitchen that felt very homely. One of our favourite campsites in South Island we really recommend! Toilets were lovely and clean, the campsite is also very eco friendly!
Felt like my couch at home. Very nice owner, extremely helpful. Recommended!
Thanks for the positive comment....I'm guessing your couch at home is relaxing, comfortable but not new and shiny. I an happy to give our guests helpful information on the area and general travel and tourist advice with the hope of making your holiday the most enjoyable.
Very friendly campsite manager who helped us fix our car door! The campsite had lovely tent sites among the trees next to the Creek. We also appreciated the child free zone. The toilets were not so clean, but that could depend on the other visitors who were there.
Thanks for the positive comment. We have different areas for tents- across the river in The Glkade in the main cvamp area, or along the river under the large walnut trees. great sunny and also shady sites. We do hope guests clean up their toilet mess but unfortunately some don't....each toilet has a sign that says 'If these toliets need our attention please let us know'.
Nice campsite, helpful host!
Too many sandflies. be aware. The owner was nice but A LOT of sandflies, especially it being next to the river
Thanks for the comment....we do have sandflies but they are nothing like ther west coast. It can depend on the weather.....one of the unfortunate things of camping close to the beach or rivers in New Zealand. We usually have a can of insect repellent around if needed.
