It just kept getting better. I was looking at where to stay in the area, and wanting to see mount cook, and noticed there was a campsite with a view and opposite the mountain range. Then...it only had 4 spots so it was more likely to be quiet and encourage people who really want to experience the piece of the mountains. Then...an adventure along a gravel track along a beautiful turquoise lake, no one else on the road. Then...a beautiful camping spot with a perfect view of snow capped mountains.

Only come here if you have a guarantee of good weather. You're isolated, with 30 km of gravel road to contend with. Apparently, the view is superb. But with three days of rain and clouds, we couldn't verify that :( The Wi-Fi is good when it works; a power outage left us without a connection for 24 hours. The hosts are very friendly and do their best to make your stay enjoyable. The cost is expensive at $120.

10/10 would recommend! Beautiful view, lovely cabin, very nice owners. Perfect for anyone who wants a secluded nature experience but still want to be comfortable.

This place is absolutely amazing. A must for all. We have been travelling for several weeks now and this is the best campsite we have visited. Incredible views and really comfy facilities.

What an incredible spot. The views are unbeatable and the facilities are great. I wish we could have stayed longer. Well worth braving the gravel road to get there.

We stayed in a self contained motorhome for one night in late March. In comparison to gravel roads in Australia, the gravel road in and out was a dream! Drive slightly faster and you won’t feel the grading so much. Worth the drive because the views are fab. Amazing little cottage with bathroom and kitchen, fireplace, great wifi. Stars are amazing too. Loved hearing the cows at night. Only thing that put me off was the fact you could pay to hunt deer on the property.

Beautiful secluded spot, definitely unique and one of our favourite places. The gravel track is navigable if bumpy in a big van but well worth it. The hut has everything you need with cooking stuff etc, 2 hot showers. Limited to 4 pitches so felt very intimate and cosy. Owners very responsive and popped over to check on us. Absolutely stunning views of Lake Pukaki, Mount Cook and next to no light pollution for beautiful views of the Milky Way. Strongly recommend!

Stunning spot, well worth the money. Unique location and the best site we stayed on in NZ by far. We were lucky and the weather was beautiful so we had the most amazing view of the stars and the milky way. Owners are lovely and very responsive. Would definitely stay again. Word of warning though - you need to travel 33km up a gravel road which is a little bumpy and dusty but this place is absolutely worth it 10/10
