Hot springs are open again. Entrance fee now $20. Although I understand they had to repair a lot, it’s not really in line with what you get.
Closed until january 2024 as they have to put a new septic system in place. The walkways are open though

Very nice hot springs for only a reasonable fee! Inside hot pool around 40° and outside cold pool around 25° with natural hot fossilized see water! We also took the nice 20-30 min loop walk in the native bush, loved it! Possibility to also have some private pool for higher fee each but we were fulfilled with the common ones so we didn't pay for it.
No camping as advertised. Quite disappointed really. Long walk to a hot pool which is a steel tub sunk in the ground.
The pools are great! Super relaxing and I loved the info signs at the front. And the community around the area is awesome from the people I encountered! Even got a discount for coming with just over an hour left of being open ($7). Sadly, I didn’t check the change the young girl working gave me. I have her a $20 and she gave me $7 back. I do think this was an honest mistake and unfortunately I wasn’t around long enough to go back and talk to them about it. DO NOT LET THIS STOP YOU FROM VISITING!! As this is one of the only hot springs in the world that is formed this way and it really is a wonderful place to stop and relax in the mountains ?
Not a campground anymore but the pools are fab and unlimited hot showers in the changing rooms. We went in the early evening and had the whole place to ourselves! It would be a great spot to spend the whole day too though as lots of picnic space, volley ball net and bbq.
This spot is so beautiful, nice walk ( Nikau track) and a soak in the hot springs at the top So friendly - will return
