A lovely 2-hour walk. There's a bit of elevation gain, though. You'll need to drive 10 minutes on a gravel road from Mahia beach to reach the trailhead.

Me and my partner enjoyed this walk. Beautiful native bush with good views. The walk itself is moderate not too hard but still fun.

Pleasant walk but nothing more. That said, the part below along and crossing the river is really nice!

Not worth for walking, it’s just a hike through the forest, but the lookout is nice.

Road is currently closed, unfortunately !

Vehicles over 2 tonnes cannot reach this destination, so a lot of campervans cannot go up the road (like us).

Really Nice walk! Great views. Beautifull trees! DOC says it takes 1.5-2h. We did it in 2.5h. But took our time to relax and enjoy the nature.

Sehr schöner Trampelpfad durch den Urwald,... Natur pur...! Es geht bergab und wieder bergauf durch die üppige Natur mit den verschiedenen Bäumen, Farnen,etc. über Bäche,.. Dazu das Vogelgezwitscher. Wunderschön! Feste Schuhe anziehen! Es ist teilweise matschig und rutschig! Der Weg zum Einsatzpunkt ist allerdings eine unbefestigte Straße. Ihr solltet Zeit haben...

You do not need sunglasses here. It's hole the time under trees. The best part is where you walk over and next to the river. I saw much better walks but nevertheless you can do that one. The view where you can park your car is such stunning!
