We were pleasantly surprised by the campsite. We stayed here on November 25th with only 3 other campers. The sanitary facilities are okay. Large, clean kitchen! The TV room is a bit dated. Good location – just across the small road to the sensational, gently sloping sandy beach. Two washing machines (€4 each, cold water only) and two dryers (€4 each).
I found the facilities clean and the showers were fine. The kitchen and TV room were great. When we came around 5 pm, we were told to just pick a spot and pay in the morning. That sounded fine, however the next morning we needed to pay 60$. Definitely too much for this campground
To be avoided. Not clean, didn’t have water turned on for hours, smelled badly, no one at reception. No internet. When I brought up the price ($30 a night for an unpowered tent site- most I’ve paid in all of NZ) the manager was so rude. Told me they’ve heard it all before, they don’t make the prices and it’s a rural area (that’s not a reason for things not to be clean and nice, I’ve stayed in plenty of great places in the middle of nowhere). Wouldn’t recommend at all, wish I hadn’t stayed myself
Too expencive for what you get, very old facilities and should get more attention, nice site close to the beach
A bit overrated. Weak showers and dinghy facilities.
Expensive Campsite: Paid for unpowered site for one person/night. Facilities were alright.
Great campsite with a beautiful very big green grass area. Unfurtunately it's quite expensive
Great spot and facilities, quiet and right across from the beach. Great little onsite coffee shop that does a good coffee. Slightly higher priced than most.
An absolute beautiful spot close to the beach, we had a family of 8 having two sites, we had to get them to move us cos the two sites they reserved had trees and we couldn’t get our camper in without damaging it, we had to do this on the phone as no one come out to meet us and we never saw anyone all weekend the first day was ok but the second and 3rd the day we had cold showers and no water at some toilets. the good point was the kids had a ball of a time and it’s so close to a safe beach so we will be back and hoping it’s a one-off with the cold showers
We stayed 2 nights in Mid Jan, Campground was very busy. Facilities really good and clean lots of hot water great showers kitchen was great. 2 mins to beach, on site cafe with ok coffee. 10mins walk to pub with good food. Coffee shack on reserve by boat club has great coffee. I really enjoyed our stay here we had a nice powered spot and our first night was really windy but day 2 was really good no wind and the beach is superb. Will happily stay again.
