Picnic tables and pullover with good views down to river valley
Great views and tables for a small meal in between!
Perfect spot to have breakfast or lunch. Even if it’s a little cloudy it seems as if you’re looking onto a postcard that’s how beautiful it’s been!
Very nice view in good weather. Beware of wasps
A really cool view over the river, with a glimpse of what is to come. However the road at the moment in parts seems to be undergoing heavy repairs and is at times very rough and like a track so not for small vehicles. We did it in a campervan and we’re fine but a small car probs wouldn’t be ideal!
!!!!!Help please!!!!! Is anyone going up the Whanganui River Road and going up north to Tongariro??? I forgot my hiking shoes on the free camping spot and it would be a five hour detour for me. I could give you some money if you could just grab them and bring them a little bit up north or even to Tongariro. Thanks so much for you help Xenia 02041495391
We did the whole skyline track on the 20.03. Times are not correct. Full track needed 5h. Until the Outlook 33min. The track is nice to the Outlook, only until then. Rest is not worth it. The Skyline Track is more like a bushwalk than a skyline (at most in the last 30min.) The path is partially blocked or overgrown by fallen trees. But always find him by the good marks. Wear long pants, dry branches and fern scratch your legs. We do not recommend him to go unless you are a fan of "I hit me through the jungle and have no nice Outlooks".
Nice enough but nothing special. Can see similar views from many NZ roads. Not worth a detour
Nice stop to have lunch!
Great vantage point in a beautiful valley. Worth the detour from the sh4.
