For $20 a night you can’t go wrong, great cooking facilities, washing machine and clothes line, hot shower, powered and non powered sites, in all included, incredible value for money, would love to visit again!!
We just stayed for a night and were really pleasantly surprised about how good this campsite is, considering there hasn’t been a review in years! The owner is super friendly, he has a gorgeous dog, the kitchen was the most well equipped kitchen we have come across in NZ campsites, the toilets & bathrooms were clean and there even is a washing machine available! Would highly recommend if you are passing through.
This is a great campsite!!! Bill and Jimmy ( lovely dog ) are so nice and welcoming!!!! Kitchen is the best 😊 You can also borrow the hot water bottle from the kitchen when it’s cold at night time. What a lovely place 🥰 🌟Please google the “Crow’s Nest accommodation “ on the map , if you click the destination here it will take you to another location then you couldn’t find it.
What a beautiful, relaxing place to stay. Such great facilities and Bill, the owner, is absolutely lovely. Made us feel 100% at home. We were sad to leave and wanted to stay another night. If you are in the area, this campground is a must!
Very quaint & quirky, all things Kiwiana & laidbackness. Many thanks to Bill for accommodating us at late notice yesterday. So glad we chose The Crow's Nest to overnight in our campervan. We were so cold (-3 deg C) but found hot water bottles in the kitchen/dining area & filled them up, so toasty last night. And thanks to Jim boy too, lovely dog
“Ah yes, one of the "features" of the Ida Valley is the extremes of temperature. As the Boy Scouts say - "Be Prepared"! We can go from blistering hot (40 degrees) to freezing cold (minus 20 degrees). However, with hotties and heaters, we are prepared! Pleased you enjoyed your stay.”
Amazing place while cycling through! Bill was a fantastic friendly host and ensured we enjoyed our stay. Amazing little kitchen and lounge area and great toilet/bathroom facilities. We camped on the lovely lawn but some other nice cabins and things. Close to rail trail, pub and store.
“Thanks for the nice comments. It's a great area (Central Otago), where the village - and my place - certainly are worth a visit.”
So different, but so great. Really enjoyed the calm atmosphere and the great hospitality of Bill.
“Thanks for the nice comments. Peacefulness is a big plus at the campsite. Cheers, Bill”
This place was a home away from home. I had it all to myself and the owner and dog were super kind and friendly. Will definitely return for a little peace and quiet.
“Thanks for those comments. It's a great spot. Thanks from Bill - and Jim the dog!”
Nice place to stay and feel like home, quiet, nice view and the host is very friendly ! There are books, games, guitar. The kitchen is well equipped , the bathroom very clean . We stay two nights instead of one. A must do in central otago !
“Thanks for your kind words. Yes we think it's a great place! The scenery in either summer or winter is stunning. Definitely superb in winter, and worth the effort to visit when the weather can be variable. Cheers, Bill”
I‘ve stayed here with my family after all other hostels in the area were fully booked. In the end we were really happy that all the hostels were full and we could sleep here. Really friendly host and good equipped hostel with a nice garden. Definitely worth to visit!!
