Cash only site, uses honesty system in drop box. Great 5G reception. Lovely cat welcomed us. Powered site was good, paved, level with easy access to power and water at each site. Facilities are older but we found everything clean and functional. Lights and hot water in showers are on a push button timer but if you keep an elbow on the hot water button while showering you get a beautiful strong and hot shower. One washing machine and dryer in laundry takes $2 coins. Dump station easy access.
We stayed here one night and was the only camper, other then someone staying in a cabin which are available on site Toilets & kitchen available which are both very clean, showers also. $35 for a powered site & drinking water, $30 unpowered. Nice spot of the ocean and had no concerns
Would absolutely not recommend! Well run down and not clean at all, Door locks in the bathroom and shower were broken, later on that night someone was yelling outside our camper that the shower had not been moped after use, not to mention it was wet and filthy before we got there! $70 is a rip off
It's a very clean and quiet town, near the sea, with beautiful scenery. Unlike other reviews that mentioned being mistreated, the host was also very friendly.
Spent a lovely night at this campground on a powered site. Can't pre book but was very quiet whilst we were there. A little on the pricey side with cash only honesty box. Facilities were very clean and ample for what we needed. Beautiful sunrise. Excellent WiFi.
I read all the negative reviews and I completely disagree. This campsite is great. Close to the ferry terminal. Lovely views! Clean toilets and kitchens. Self service check in so bring cash, if not there’s a cash machine at four square just down the road. No check in and check out times. I felt safe as a solo traveller. Good signal and free wifi!
I’m never one to leave a negative review, however the manager of this site was exceptionally rude. We have travelling the entire country and this was the only campsite we have avoided due to the managers behaviour.
Facilities were clean, easy to check in through cash in envelope. A bit over priced but overall enjoyed it. Very friendly cat at the site which made it even better
Self-serviced campground as you pay by putting money in an envelope. Campground is nothing fancy and facilities are out-dated. They are clean though and hot showers. Possibility of a nice walk near sterling point just around the corner. Convenient location close to ferry to Stewart Island.
The campsite is conveniently located, the pitches are level and there is plenty of greenery. The sanitary facilities are not acceptable: two toilets, one shower, and one sink are dirty and one is clogged. The kitchen is very dirty, and the washing machine and dryer are old and also dirty. Payment is only possible in cash. $70 for one night is excessively expensive.
