Nice walk, to do indeed until Old man rock. Splendid view. 1h45 round trip at a relaxed pace from the car park.
If you're driving from Puponga, drive past the pillar point sign and there wil be a yellow road sign "cape farewell." Turn right and drive to that carpark. There is a view point of Cape Farewell to your left, obviously, 200m up, then walk to your right and follow the orange signs for less than 5 minutes where you will get the view of Pillar point! 2 amazing views and a quick walk. Be cautious of wind!
Very nice point of view at 360 ° at sunset it's just beautiful, I really recommend to go there
Make sure to go to the Old Man Rocks
Nice to be up there for sunset.
Nice up hill gravel walk to lighthouse with great views on the way. We also continued along east for another 15 mins or so to the geodite mark for even better view of the spit. 2 hr round walk. Gravel car park at the bottom.
Small easy path that climbs gently 20min max max ... It's beautiful and if you extend a little a beautiful view of the Spitz ... Made the morning but not too early to have a nice sun (neither too much late for not being hot) ... The lighthouse has unfortunately no interest but the point of view is really worth it.
Park your car at the Pillar Point Carpark on the Gravelroad and walk along the cliffs and past the sheep pastures towards Cape Farewell! A beautiful hiking route and impressive views - highly recommended. Im back to Carpark from Cape Farewell via the Gravelroad, but you can also go back over the sheep pastures
Really cool viewpoint. You can see Farewell Spit on one side and Wharariki Beach in the other direction.
Walk to the lighthouse and on to Old Man Rock. It gets hot (not as exposed as you'd think as you are sheltered by bush) so take lots of water. Great views of the spit.
