Walked up Jacks Track, look out is worth it on its own. Amazing the ingenuity back when the water race and power station was built without all our modern machines. Just beware the zigzag track has been subjected to the laws of physics and is deeply gouged due to water taking the easiest route down & made good use of the track. The water race path is not an ideal track if you’re not keen on heights/ sheer drops.
Walked up the easy track and came down the water race playing a mega game of Pooh sticks with a photo finish even after 2km! (Mine won ;) Great way to exercise the kids without them realising it :)
Amazing walk. Walk up to the race way and grab a stick on the way. Best Pooh stick race you’ll ever have! Who will be your winner? Great fun.
Very cool walk! Beautiful track along a man-made water canal high up the hill. Enjoyed more than the springs. Agree with previous comments, to take the main walk to the weir/dam there and back. The driveway is very boring and only slightly quicker. Would probably get a bit too wet during/after heavy rain. Gravel road isn't bad.
It is down a long drive but I would say worth the visit, interesting
Good walk if your in the area. Personally wouldn’t drive out the way to visit.
Interesting walk, with some excitement and nice views.
It is just wonderful! A tip: as you start take the way to the right (not towards the powerstation) make your way up all the way to the ig bridge (Wheir) 30+30 mins, and from there take the same way back. We came down the other way, making it a loop, but the other side was just lame. It is a gravel road for cars to get up there, it is wide, boring and no fun at all. I wish we had taken the same way back where we came from. Have a great walk ;)
At the beginning, take the path on the right. It's really fun and the conclusion is then relaxing to run. With the narrow bridges I had already weak knees with slight fear of heights, but the short view, which I did anyway, was awesome.
What a great easy little walk! Lovely views and fun to walk along the boardwalks alongside the stream. 1hr 30min Max. 11th visit to golden bay and wish I’d discovered this on my first!!
