I just love the magnificent trees of the Pureora Forest. It’s such a beautiful, tranquil, wilderness haven even if the lagoon was dry in autumn. The narrow 7km road was OK in our Toyota Highlander, just take it slowly, wouldn’t bring a camper in as you’d probably get the sides and maybe roof scratched with overhanging growth. Good sized car park area.
Beautiful clearing but completely dried out. This is how wild boar heads come to the fore
The way is the horror! We had to turn over 2kms because of the huge holes in the street, there can no car drive along. Very a pity!
Awful road!!! The road is total crud!! Giant pot holes and a giant dip in the road filled with mud and water. We had to reverse back. Our van is 5 meters and it was a challenge to turn around the narrow road. ONLY go if you have 4WD and don’t mind the nasty road. Maybe the lagoon is nice, I don’t know. Maybe Google can tell us.. Lol.
We were confident but ended up turning around for fear of staying bogged down: holes yes but also mud! The U-turn is not simple so maybe avoid engaging in wet weather
Hey we lost 1 nike shoe on the parking lot, please text me if you found it. Thanks :) +64 275133633
25-30mins each way on a gravel Road with craters on it. Go very very slow if you don't want to wreck your car. The lagoon is very pretty though and if you're into your birds or rare plants it's worth it
A nice thing to see if you're in the area, just drive slow and you'll be fine.
The journey is not at the top (7km of gravel, holes) so long enough ? In addition to van not very convenient and risk of bursting or other! But the last one on foot and the view of the lagoon are really great after that! ??
One of the most beautiful spots in Nort Island! Yes, the road is long 7 km and full of holes but it's worth it! We have been there today (winter) and met nobody. The lagoon looked magical and mysterious, the forest as well. It was very peaceful and just amazing! It's only 600 m from the parking place. The only bad thing could be that in hot and dry summer there might not be water.
