In essence a large mostly flat field surrounded by forest with three drop toilets and small non-drinking waterbutts. The area is mainly used by local hunters shooting deer and by mountain bikers. I had no phone signal for approx 15km of the campsite - so be aware if need satnav directions. Good to note that the campsite is entered via a long gravel track about 16km long which requires slower driving so plan accordingly.

Big open area. Long drop toilets and take your own paper. Used by bikers and hunters.

Great back country spot, easy access to walking and bike trails. Used by a lot of hunters so there is always comings and going’s. Be prepared for a 13-14km gravel road drive to the camp. Toilets are fine and drinking water is accessible. Good spot for big truck/van combos.

Great place to stay if you want to walk or bike the Timber Trail as it half way, so you could catch a shuttle to start at Pureroa or bike some of it then turn back. Has long drops, fire pits and shelters with wood stoves designed for the hunters to set up there for a few days. No through road so have to travel back sand road, which is gravel but well maintained

It's a huge open field at the end of a long gravel road. However, it was nice feeling relatively secluded! I highly recommend having your own toilet paper and hand sanitizer or soap as all the stalls around were empty when we stayed. Definitely a great stop for people who are doing the biking trails!

Average, didn't end up staying nothing there but dust. Won't go back.

Idyllic. Huge flat-ish grassed area, clean toilets, water (boil before drinking), surrounded by native bush. The road in is ok, take it slow, allow 1 from Benneydale. Caravans, motorhomes and tents here when I arrived in my 5.5m motorhome. Midway along The Timber Trail, good biking and walking.

No cell coverage. Awesome for dogs. Great place to meet those cycling or walking the te Araroa Trail, length of nz. They all call in here. The road in is fine, but takes an hour, only 13km at the end unsealed.

Large floor space for many vehicles and there are toilets. you consider well if you take the 40min approach to gravel in purchase. The place is popular with the locals for hunting or for people with bicycles who want to ride the Timber Trail. ! Currently, the second half of the route is closed due to a landslide!
