Beautiful at sunset, nice to watch the surfers

Raglan is one of the most beautiful places in NZ.

Great place for swimming/tanning/picnic. Also a perfect surfing spot for beginners!

Nice sunsets from the top of the hill. Bring your girlfriend and a gingerbeer and enjoy! ;-)

A nice, long, black sand beach. I’m no surfer so can’t rate that but looked like a few of them were out there. A nice few walks around. That said I can’t say I was blown away either hence the not-so-smiley face.

This old duck struggled walking down & up the very steep walkway. All sealed walkway but lovely beach when I made it down. Needed a cup of tea & a rest for the next couple of hours. L&G

We had a great experience hanging at the beach for a few hours UNTIL we came up to our van, ready to head on to our next excursion for the day, and a local had double parked us in, not leaving enough room to get out. We noticed the few vehicles this happened to were all vans with self contained stickers on the back. As we waited for the person to return, we noticed multiple locals passing by us or parking nearby, looking on at our situation with smirks. We felt targeted and it changed my whole impression of the town and beach. Bummer. It was super inconvenient. Felt like aggressive territorial behaviour.

Lovely beach popular with surfers and swimmers. Fine dark sand, fairly flat beach with surf life savers when we were there in February. Had a wonderful warm swim, followed by a good outdoor cold shower (there were three). No shade and the car parks were pretty full.

Nice black sand beach. The sand gets mega hot in the day so have Jandals or a shoe of sorts. Great surfing and great sunset down there!
