Owner was very nice, but the camp is mostly permenant residents and we did not feel safe. Asked for a refund and received a partial one, which we were fine with. Owner claimed it was the first time anyone had asked for a refund, we found that hard to believe. Also, cost 32$ and showers not included. Common area was the kitchen which was full of permenant residents, and I don’t mean to be disrespectful but some of them felt intimidating and like they don’t want you there.
Hot showers for 4 dollar, toilets, laundry. Basically a parking place in a square where you are squeezed in between the people who are living there permanently (there are a lot). We did not feel very comfortable between these permanents. Host was accommodating and nice, and definitely cared about the place. But we wouldnt return because of the perms. At least it was cheap!
Visiting NZ from Ireland. Great location - 5min walk to Monteiths Brewery. Clean showers & toilets. Long wheel base campers beware of steep entry slope on way into park.
Very Nice owner, good communal spaces, clean showers and bathrooms but with 24$ for an unpowered Site pretty expensive
I had slightly higher hopes when reading the comments below. Yes the location is central and good for stopovers. But the kitchen wasn’t that clean, quite smelly and I couldn’t find a stove. Also keep in mind this is behind a petrol station and has no gates
Fair value, fully equipt kitchen. Yes shower is extra but it is convenient if you are looking to stay central to the town.
The owner is a good and honest man. I arrived late so paid with the honesty box. The owner came to me in the morning and told me I overpaid and gave me back the extra money. Overall good, convenient place to spend the night with a cozy lounge and kitchen
Simple car park, owner was nice enough to welcome us with a late checkout (around 8pm). Has laundry and dryer (payable with 1 and 2 NZD coins), as well as paid showers (which we didn’t use). Powered sites for camper, potable water available, dump station available. Doesn’t look like a great spot, but it did all we needed. A bit expensive considering that you pay for laundry and showers separately and no kitchen available.
Asphalt pitch but good location. Drive in at the gas station and then behind it it is. place not protected. Showers hot but $4/6 minutes. Stayed at the RecreationCenter $6 for shower/sauna/pool. kitchen a bit old. WIFI only via many codes every few hours that you had to ask beforehand. Owner somewhat planned, but tries.
If all you need is a piece of asphalt, a shower and toilet in a handy spot, this is for you. Recommend it. Walk to the shopping area but would recommend Union Hotel for a meal.
