The way to the Fox River Caves is closed but walkable. Great way, if a bit slippery. In the cave itself, we did not dare, but still a great sight:
You can't go all the way, but it's still a sweet walk with some interesting crossings and things to see. Especially if the weather is a bit rubbish when you visit the area.
You cannot get to the caves still. Closed long term, the first river crossing is quite big, very cold
Beautiful track! A little bit muddy after rain. I didn’t cross the second river... The water was very cold!!! But my husband swam in it! :)
We did the walk to the overhang and back to the carpark and it was a nice afternoon walk. The overhang is impressive. You can also go late afternoon and spend the night there below the overhang (I would have loved to do it), there is a long drop toilet and campfires. You need to be ready for a few river crossings (the water goes up to your knees an a bit over at places, so you probably want to walk in sneakers that dry quickly or take your beloved expensive hiking boots off for the crossings :)).
Never found the caves (?!) but great walk to Ballroom overhang. We camped the night there. Lovely and remote ! Even a long drop toilet at the campsite ! Great place to be alone in the world. You walk up the riverbed for the last past, it's so cool! Be prepared to get your shoes wet and take warm clothes as is cold at night !
Unfortunately the track for the caves is close and they don't indicate it at the beginning. Worth walking until the river though, the landscape with the cliffs is beautiful.
The entrance of the cave is not accessible due to the fall of the pathway
